Clark family letters, 1813-1815.

The folder contains two letters, one written by Jonas Clark (1774-1854) to his wife and the other by an unidentified Clark family member, probably one of Jonas' sisters. The first letter, dated October 15, 1815, discusses Jonas Galusha's win over Martin Chittenden in the 1815 gubernatorial election, and the arrival of General Brown and Jonas Galusha in Montpelier, Vermont. The second letter, dated September 20, 1813, written from Preston, Connecticut, and addressed to Jonas Clark, contains information about an epidemic in the area and refers to the death of Theophilus Clark, Jonas' brother.
